Contact your embassy for assistance. For getting to work, try the bus like many Americans do.

IT'S EASY,shit all over yourself!! LOVE YA

You need to contact your local embassy tell them this problem. You need to make a driver license and they need to see Visa on your passport. I don't get it, if you have a "Employment Authorization Card", why they give you this and didn't put anything in your passport.

Where do you think that is the best place to live

Where do you think that is the best place to live?
I have a lot of time to decide if I'll stay in my country (Portugal) or if I'll go to another country to work and live! But I wanted to know what countries you would advise me to live, and why! It's just a curiosity question!

Backpack in Europe - where to start

Backpack in Europe - where to start?
I'm plannin on traveling mostly through Western Europe with my husband this summer. We're planning on going to London, Paris, Spain, Portugal, and Italy. Flying in London, out Italy. We are 30, and plan to travel for a month. Here are my questions. 1. Do you think 1 month is enough to visit 5 countries? How do I figure out how long to stay in each country? We would like to visit all the touristy places, but want to mix in some countryside sightseeing. 2. Confused about Eurorail pass, which one to buy? What does 5 country in 15 days in 2 months mean? 3. We're 30, do we still qualify for hostels? Should I make reservations ahead of time since we are traveling during high season - summer? What happens when there's a change in schedule, and I arrive at a place w/out reservation, how likely am I to find a room w/out reservation? 4.Sleeper trains. So even though w/a 1st class railpass, we still have to pay extra for a sleeper? How does night train work

That's a big question! To really see a city I think you need 3 days, 2 nights. You'll need to add in travel time from country to country and city to city. High season in the touristy places you should make a reservation, not positive about the age cut-off, I think it is different in each country. Check the International Youth Hostel website. As for the Eurorail pass, it's a good deal. It means within 2 months, you get 15 traveling days to 5 countries. Be sure they are the countries you want to visit! You may have to buy 1st class because of your age... Also, if you are traveling in August you may want to book any LONG train rides in advance, they can sell out. You just make a reservation online or call when you are there. If you have a month, enjoy a month. Don't worry about if it is enough. You can always return to a place you loved and stay longer another time. I didn't do a sleeper when I took the night train, we just tied the doors shut with our shoelaces and curled up on the bench seats in our compartment! But sleepers are good too. Put your valuables (money, cr.cards, Passport, eurorail pass in your sleeping bag with you or in a waist pack under your clothes. Above all, be open, have fun, talk to people, try new things!
2 :
1. That's alot to take in in one month, but it's not too bad. As far as how long in each, that's up to you. You could spend a whole month in Paris alone, so you'll have to be choosy about your destinations. I prefer to have certain must-sees, and leave the rest to chance. Often times you'll meet people along the way who've just come back from this great little spot you've never heard of, and they tell you it's awesome. Definitely save some extra time for things like that--for me, half the fun is the in the spontaniety. 2. Make sure you buy your Eurail pass stateside, as last time I checked you couldn't get it over there (that could've changed). I believe that the pass you mentioned is 15 days of travel through a predetermined 5 countries, to be used within 2 months. That might work for you, since hopefully you won't be moving every 2 days. Next time I go I'm getting the unlimited usage for 1or 2 months, because I really like to leave things up in the air. Also if I get on the wrong train, I can simply switch at the next stop and not get docked. 3. Y'all shouldn't be turned down at many hostels; very few impose age limits now. As far as booking in advance, you'll have to be sure of your arrival date. In 2001 I went during the summer, never booked in advance, and never had a problem finding one. Of course if you want to stay in a specific hostel, give them a call. Otherwise you should be fine. **But, if I knew I was getting in to a city after dark, I'd call beforehand (even the same day) to reserve a room so I wouldn't be wandering the streets at night without a place to stay--I learned that lesson very quickly! 4. You usually have to pay extra for a sleeper. Sometimes you can get a private sleeper, sometimes you may have to share it with a couple others. I guess it depends on the train and how much you're willing to shell out. Sleepers can be a good idea, since you're saving on a hostel. I've been known to rough it in coach to really save on money (the seats are relatively spacious). Oh yeah, and if you don't have a travel book like Lonely Planet, Let's Go, or the like, be sure to get one soon. They're chock full of useful info and will be indispensible. Man, I'm envious! Buon viaggio!!
3 :
Wow. That's a big question! I'll try to help with answers. 1. One month is not enough time to "visit all the touristy places" in those 5 counties. It's not even enough time to visit them all in one country. But, you can visit those 5 countries and have a good time. What you want to do is get some guidebooks (check them out of the library so you can read several without having to buy them all.) Read about the countries and start making notes on what really sounds interesting. You'll have to pick and choose what to see. You don't need a firm itinerary, but you will want to have some idea of the sites to help you decide how long to stay in each place. 2. Eurail passes work like this..."5 countries in 15 days in 2 months" doesn't quite make sense. Is it 15 travel days in two months. They generally work like this...The pass is good in certain countries. Some Eurail passes limit the countries you can travel in because they are broken into "zones". If your pass is 15 days in 2 months then you are buying 15 days of rail travel and you have 2 months from your first travel date to finish using your 15 travel days. Also, be aware that Eurail passes are not accepted in Great Britian, so don't consider that part of the trip when deciding how many days to buy. 3. Hostels--You will mostly be okay in hostels. A few have age limits but it's often 35 anyway. However, you should be aware that many hostels have segregated dorms so you and your husband will be sleeping in seperate rooms--him with the guys you with the ladies. Some hostels have double rooms or mixed dorms. If you want a double room in a hostel you should probably book ahead of time. They tend to get booked up. If you arrive in a city without a reservation you can probably find somewhere to sleep, but if you are picky about places or on a really tight budget it's best to book ahead, at least by a few days. Last minute arrivals can mean that you either end up in a cheap or gross room somewhere or that you pay a lot of money. Try this website for hostels and also for cheap guesthouses that offer double rooms if you don't like the segregated dorm idea. www.hostelz.com 4. Sleeper trains--If you want a sleeper you pay extra, even with a first class ticket. You don't have to buy a sleeper because you can sit up in your seat and sleep there, but it's not very comfy if the trains are full. You will also want to buy a seat reservation on long distance trains. Having a Eurail pass does not guarantee you a seat, just a ride. You might end up in the aisle sitting on your luggage without a reservation. Also, many long distance trains require a reservations and a supplement with Eurail. In other words, you buy the Eurail but you may have to pay extra to ride certain trains. The train station and/or tourist office can help you sort out which trains don't require supplements. Generally the fastest ones do. A couple of other thoughts...It's a very long way from London to Portugal. You might consider taking the train for some parts of the trip and flying for other parts. I love to travel by train and it's always my preference, but Paris to Lisbon can take forever, and then coming out of Lisbon, across Spain to Italy...I'd suggest you at least look into a bit of flying. You arrive in London--London to Paris is no problem. The Eurostar is a great trip and only takes about 3 hours (book it ahead of time. You can get cheaper deals on these trains by booking ahead.) http://www.eurostar.com/dynamic/_SvBoAvailabilityTravelCriteriaTerm?_TMS=1169943404943&_DLG=SvBoAvailabilityTravelCriteriaTerm&_LANG=UK&_AGENCY=ESTAR You might consider finding a flight from Paris to Lisbon and then, after seeing Portugal, taking the train back across Spain stopping where you want to go. You might also consider taking a flight from Madrid or Barcelona into Italy. It is a long train journey...Easyjet does Paris-Lisbon flights and I believe they do Madrid to Rome. They are a no-frills European airline and worth considering. Also, Ryanair does Paris to Porto (north Portugal) and Madrid to Rome flights. They are another low-cost carrier. The train is wonderful, but you would save probably 3 days of riding trains by adding those two flights. http://www.easyjet.com/en/book/index.asp http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/ I haven't flown with them myself. I know some people who have and they've generally been pleased considering the price they paid. Happy travels!

Wouldn't America be better off ending the federal War on Drugs and putting that money towards border security

Wouldn't America be better off ending the federal War on Drugs and putting that money towards border security?
The U.S. spends appx. $50 billion per YEAR to fight the U.S. War on Drugs. It has been estimated that the cost to completely secure the southern U.S. border and deport ALL illegal immigrants would be appx. $285 billion over 5 years. (so about $57 billion per year) If marijuana was legal (marijuana arrests comprise 44% of all drug arrests), the states would cease having to worry about locking up non-violent marijuana offenders completely and could even generate some revenue by taxing the drug. (similar to the way state's tax alcohol). In addition, hard drugs (crack, cocaine, meth, heroine, etc.) could be decriminalized similar to the program tried in Portugal. (focus on addiction treatment instead of prison time). This decriminalization of hard drugs would accomplish two things: A) hard drug rates would decrease (similar to how they did in Portugal), B) the profitability of hard drugs would plummet (similar to the way medical marijuana ie legal marijuana has caused the price of black market marijuana in California to plummet). If drugs aren’t profitable, cartels can’t make TONS of profits selling them. (That wouldn’t be a bad thing….) What do you think?? AP IMPACT: After 40 years, $1 trillion, U.S. War on Drugs has failed to meet any of its goals http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory?id=10642775 Plummeting Marijuana Prices Create A Panic In Calif. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=126806429&ft=1&f=2&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+NprProgramsATC+%28NPR+Programs:+All+Things+Considered%29 Drugs in Portugal: Did Decriminalization Work? (hint: YES!!) http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,1893946,00.html The Cato paper reports that between 2001 and 2006 in Portugal, rates of lifetime use of any illegal drug among seventh through ninth graders fell from 14.1% to 10.6%; drug use in older teens also declined. Lifetime heroin use among 16-to-18-year-olds fell from 2.5% to 1.8% (although there was a slight increase in marijuana use in that age group). New HIV infections in drug users fell by 17% between 1999 and 2003, and deaths related to heroin and similar drugs were cut by more than half. In addition, the number of people on methadone and buprenorphine treatment for drug addiction rose to 14,877 from 6,040, after decriminalization, and money saved on enforcement allowed for increased funding of drug-free treatment as well. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100708/ap_on_re_us/us_immigration_enforcement_lawsuit_27 The federal government is worried that other states will follow Arizona's lead, overwhelming federal agencies with non-criminal illegal immigrants who will cost the government millions to deport. A March study by the liberal Center for American Progress estimated that deporting the entire illegal immigration population and securing the borders would cost $285 billion over five years. Ed..........."What happened to the "just say no" program?" It didn't work. otis........"If there wasn't a demand for drugs -- there would be no supply." But there IS a demand. To deny this fact is to deny reality. otis........"Edit: There's also a demand for child porn -- should that be legalized too?" You act like people can't get it. I'm not saying legalize the exploitation of children. I'm saying legalize marijuana because it's less harmful than alcohol. And DECRIMINALIZE hard drugs and offer treatment programs instead (in an effort to decrease DEMAND). See??

Yes I agree, the war on drugs should be ended. Though I would try to put more of that money into our failing education system. What is the point of border security if you're raising a generation of retards?
2 :
Yeah I'm all for ending the war on drugs & scoring some rock star weed with the money I pocket all right.
3 :
Yes, that may also cut down on immigration in the first place.
4 :
What happened to the "just say no" program?
5 :
Yes, but it won't happen. It makes too much sense and it is too simple for our nonsensical, complicated Government to execute.
6 :
Not exactly sure, while some people argue that the war on drugs is wasting government money and a complete waste of energy, I think it is in the best interest. While I have nothing against people who do drugs, I do know that drugs can be extremely addicting. Where would America be if all of the residents were Druggies? Not very well, I think. And, you thin kthe problem with kids doing drugs in highschool is bad enough, think about how bad it'll be when drugs are completely mainstream and within a fingers reach? Even worse. Already lagging behind other countried in outr education, I think legalising drugs is the last thing we want to be doing to improve our economy. But that's just my opinion.
7 :
If there wasn't a demand for drugs -- there would be no supply. Edit: There's also a demand for child porn -- should that be legalized too? Edit: The thought that those in prison on drug charges are addicts, is overstated. You're missing the fact that those involved in the selling and traficking of drugs are the real criminals. I'm not for locking up a kid caught with 2 joints in his pocket, but the guy who buys large quantities and recruits street kids into selling it -- is dangerous.
8 :
Hard to say. If you could stop more of the stuff we could be less proactive.
9 :
Yes. The war on drugs is stupid. I say legalize pot and decriminalize the rest. But if you fry your brain, we shouldn't have to pay for it.

Is the U.S. govt. A) stupid B) ignorant with regards to prohibition history or C) in love w/ police state

Is the U.S. govt. A) stupid B) ignorant with regards to prohibition history or C) in love w/ police state?
The stupidity in these comments from the Obama administration is ASTOUNDING. They ADMIT the reason there is so much violence in Mexico is because the U.S. and Mexican govt.'s are LITERALLY having a "war" with the drug cartels. The drug cartels however have an EXTREMELY profitable drug market in the U.S. (criminalization of drugs significantly ups the profit margin for heroin, cocaine, marijuana etc.) and THEY WILL protect it. So why are we punishing the addicts and the suppliers when the POLICY is the reason why A) the drugs are extremely profitable and B) there is incentive for cartels to get heavily armed to protect these profits?? Wouldn't it make WAY more sense to DECRIMINALIZE hard drugs (cocaine, heroin, crack, meth etc.) similar to Portugal's program?? (hard drug rates dropped across the board, enrollment in treatment doubled) Then LEGALIZE marijuana and regulate it just like alcohol??? http://www.cnn.com/2010/POLITICS/05/18/us.mexico.presidential.visit/index.html The Obama administration said one reason for the rise in violence is the pressure both governments are putting on drug cartels. "The pressure that the Calderon administration has placed on the DTOs [drug trafficking organizations] has certainly generated a great deal of violence as those organizations fight for more restricted access to the United States in terms of the drug market," said a senior administration official who briefed reporters Wednesday on the condition of not being identified. "But putting pressure on the DTOs is an important part of a multipronged strategy to create a lasting dismantlement of these organizations that generate crime and violence in Mexico and have deleterious effects in the United States as well." Portugal's decriminalization program appears to be working. (Hard drug user rates dropped across the board) Drugs in Portugal: Did Decriminalization Work? http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,1893946,00.html In contrast the U.S. War on Drugs is FAILING IN EVERY RESPECT: AP IMPACT: US drug war has met none of its goals http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100513/ap_on_re_us/failed_drug_war Decriminalization makes these drugs MORE PROFITABLE. What would you do if you see your country going down the hole in an irreversible way

What would you do if you see your country going down the hole in an irreversible way?
Portugal. I do work i pay my takes i work extra time without being paid (and honestly i really don't care anymore, i love what i do). I worked for free for a long time as so many people i know who did the same. Most people i know are in the same situation. Why do they keep trying to fool us saying that Portugal is drowning down the hole because we do not work enough when they spend a thousand million of euros building stuff we REALLY DO NOT NEED? Spec - USA would be a great choice but actually i'm thinking of smaller steps, i would like to go to Barcelona (Spain) because i know the place and i think i would feel like i'm home there. Still i'm just starting to raise in my career and so i need time to get money to move out. I have a friend who's living on UK and he tells me that job reality is completely different from here - if you work, you get paid. Just to give you a picture about how government stuff works here: Portugal is one of the european countries that has more deputy members. Each of them earns around 6000 euros per month (plus other extras). They said they would cut off 5% of their income and one of them started to complain he wouldn't have money to eat o.O... Lots of families here live with 500 euros per month.... So, hence the category. Thanks for the advice. Cristina - Sim!!! essa história dos ciganos bem que podiam fazer como em França... Enfim, querem lá saber. desde que ganhem o deles...

Not quite following you here, but it seems to me that if you followed a job to the USA, and no longer have said job, why stay?
2 :
Unless you have a visa that allows you to work and is not tied to the job you lost (H1-Bs are held by the EMPLOYER, not the employee), you will not be able to claim any form of unemployment insurance or other aid. Without your own work visa or some other visa you will not be able to remain legally. Unemployment insurance is administered by the individual states, but requires that you be immediately (and legally) available to work. Technically, if you have an H1-B, you are supposed to leave the country immediately upon the conclusion of the job.

Start sexual education at an earlier age for children

Start sexual education at an earlier age for children?
In my state sexual education beings at grade 7. In many European countries it begins somewhere around grade 2. Fact: The age of consent is lower in Europe then in the States (ie. Spain: 13, Hungary, Portugal, Slovenia, etc 14), yet, there are fewer cases of teen pregnancy and STDs then in the States Question: Would it not be a good idea to start sexual education at an earlier age, say around 10-11 years, meaning grade 4-5??? I also must point out that abstinence only teaching does not work!

No, no and no again! In the UK we learn it at 12, and that is fine with me, you really want 5 year olds learning about sex like they do in the Netherlands, I sure don't.
2 :
In my district they do it at 10 and thats fine with me
3 :
I learned in grade 5 (age 11) and I think that worked well. I think that as long as kids are learning about stranger danger at a really young age, then we ought to be teaching about other dangers when they are young enough to be influenced into making better decisions. Besides, girls often start to experience their periods at age 10-11 so they should understand really what that's all about.
4 :
Where I live, the children start to hear about sex ed as they are finishing up 5th grade and preparing for middle school. Each year from 5th to 10th grade, they are given refresher courses. Family is your best indicator. We teach abstinence in our home. Never had a problem with the children. They pretty much knew what was right.
5 :
I do believe 10-11 is appropriate for sex ed. My son (11 - Year 5) hasn't done sex ed at school yet, but I have talked to him, and we are making it a daily education. Why so young? Because he has started asking a LOT of questions. He has friends whose bodies are changing, his body is starting to change. I am also pretty sure that a number of girls he is at school with have already started their periods, and they are definitely growing breasts, and it is important for the boys to understand that too. So I bought a book and we went through it together. Now, whenever he has a question, he just asks. He feels very comfortable, so it is a good age. BTW, I don't think you should rely on the education system to do what you as a parent should be involved in. I am quite happy to have talked to my son about it. Hubby an I agreed, it opens the door. If he does sex ed only at school, without some parental education, do you think he'd ask those questions in class??? I doubt it. So if you feel your children are ready, talk to them. Keep it fairly basic, and let the questions come. It is a fantastic opening for you as a parent to be open about something that is totally natural, and if you don't seem embarrassed by it, then they will be comfortable.
6 :
It should start at home. When my children were toddelers they would say whats that mummy and id just say eg vagina using the correct words. They would just carry on as normal.then as they got older they would ask diffferent questions and you just say it in simple terms. It then would be backed up by school in a more detailed way. Also i said to my children if they had an embarassing question to write it down and put it under my pillow.(this is when they are older} and id put the answer under their pillow . It really worked well
7 :
It shouldn't be left up to the schools! I have an 8 year old son, and when he asked the questions, I answered them. He got around to asking exactly how a daddy puts the baby in mummy's tummy last year, and I borrowed a book from the library and told him. He said 'Yuck!' and then cackled madly. No embarassment, no hang ups and he has the information. STD info will probably come from the school, as I can't imagine him asking the question (although he might, and I'll answer him). Far too many people rely on the state tpo educate their children, that's why there are such high teen pregnancy rates. I have no problem with my 5 year old learning about his body and how it works. They're not going to show little kids the full gory details.
8 :
In the UK they start sex education from year five (10) in a formal way. And we have the highest number of teen pregnancies and std's than any other European countries. Many European countries come from a strict religious background and the morals are carried over into their family lives. In the UK religion has gone out of the window. The two need to be combined, morals and sex education. Our society is very sex orientated, with it appears, most not bothering to practise self restraint. And until that is addressed, no matter how much sex education you teach, there will be girls and boys out there putting their sex education to good use. Edit: I wasn't taught formal sex education, ever. And there were only one or two girls who fell pregnant the entire time I was at school. We were taught "nice girls don't!"
9 :
here they learn age 10-11 some 12 (uk) I dont want my children to learn anything before then, its so much fun answering questions with weird ideas than it is to tell them the truth at this age! for example whilst heavy pregnant with my second my daughter (5) asked me how the baby would get out of my tummy, I felt I should tell her the truth with cartoon diagrams BUT her reply "dont be silly mummy you would squash it" a lesson learnt, I dont think children are ready to hear the truth any younger than what it is told at present in uk 10+.

In my state (or at least in my daughter's school) you get sex education in 5th grade health, which educates about pregnancy and AIDS mainly. however, she went to a magnet middle school and took her magnet course instead of art, health, and tech. And in high school, you don't take health until 12th grade, since it is a half credit course and you take another one to balance it out then. That is ridiculous. By then the girl that needed the class the most has already gotten pregnant and probably has already had her baby. this country needs to stop thinking that educating our kids will not work. Kids learn math from a very young age, but most of them still moan that they don't like it and will never use it in life. I know sex isn't quite like that, but there is some grain of truth to it. They will only make an informed choice if they know what one is.
11 :
In Europe, the age of consent is usually 14. There are no laws about age gap when teens have sex if they are 14 or older, so a 15yo girl can sleep with a 21yo boy and they can have a great relationship without hiding. Personally I know many cases of younger teens who have older boyfriends and some of them got married a year ago (the girl was 18-19 and the boy was around 25). Teen pregnancy is so low that I personally haven't heard of one case, although most of my friends are in Europe (and most are teens or around my age - 22) and I can say there a teen pregnancy is such a mirakle. Teens there know about condoms, pills and use them without being asked to, because they have brains in their heads and do it because they WANT TO, not because someone made them. I would really love to raise my kids in Europe, but since we now live here (I'm American and half European), we will visit there as much as possible.

i learned it while i was in the 4th grade .....it was weird at first ..

Do you really believe in the innocence of the McCanns on Maddie's disappearance

Do you really believe in the innocence of the McCanns on Maddie's disappearance?
1º Is normal Kate McCann's first call to be to sky news and ONLY later to the Portuguese police? 2º If really exists a abductor, it was a good option, the parents had exposed the case to the media? I think is good to their own defense in public and justice field, the first step when the abductor has one famous kid is to kill her. It's obvious! As all world know Madeleine, the abductor or kill the little girl or the police in any part of the world would go to arrest him. 3º And it's strange to have bilogical fluids or hair under the carpet in baggage! In Portugal disappear each year 8 kids... in England disappear more than 80! Portuguese criminal rate is better in% than England. Portuguese police is so bad? Extra information:The first family spokesman work now for Gordon Brown.

I don't believe that I have enough evidence to believe or not believe their innocence. I think there are a lot of problems in the story -- such as leaving children alone when in a strange country. But I can't say they are guilty either -- I haven't seen all of the evidence.
2 :
No. I'm still open on the whole Santa thing, but the McCanns are guilty.
3 :
i cant judge however it must be hell to lose a child
4 :
It's hard to not think they had something to do with it in light of the evidence now surfacing. I am trying to just keep an open mind until charges are brought forth against them. I don't think they should have left their kids alone in their room while they partyed.
5 :
I am not really sure but I believe the McCanns are in the medical field. If this is so, no smart couple in the healthcare field would never have left a child under the age of ten unattended specially your own child in a foreign country. And the cough medicine theory seems very probable. How much of a dose puts a child to sleep? Did it have an adverse affect/allergic reaction causing the child to expire accidentally. Again, there is no good reason for a child to be left alone in a hotel room sleeping or not, and enough reason to suspect foul play.
6 :
Very heard to say. Hopefully, there will be a thorough investigation and the truth will come out.

How difficult is to get a job in Dubai

How difficult is to get a job in Dubai?
hi i'm from portugal and have been living in the uk for the past 5 years. And i'm looking for a big change and Dubai sounds promising. i don't have a degree only some administrative experience and willingness to learn and improve. i'd like to know what type of job opportunities are out there and how difficult would it be to get a job without major qualifications and if it would be difficult form me to get a work visa?
United Arab Emirates - 5 Answers

1 :
Once you find a job the visa process should be easy... i'm actually moving there... and it just takes a while to get all the papers ready. Try the job websites listed below,
2 :
Maria, without beating around bushes, your chances are almost zero. Any job you would maybe be qualitied for will be giving to Philippians or Indians even being over qualified but being much cheaper than you to hire. In the UAE you will be paid regarding your degrees/diplomas and nationality. There are to many well educated people from the Philippines and India occupying jobs in administration for around a third what you would expect and need to make a living in Dubai .Most women working in position which would fit your profile are either hired being on a father's or husband's visa or living in shared rooms with no privacy. And even if you would agree to live like this, nobody would rent a "bedspace" to an European lady (only same nationality) There is one (also when a small one) opportunity to get to the UAE. Look for employment with a british company which is operating in the UAE as well and try to get transferred. To make a long story short, without any degree or special experience, you will not be able to land any administrative job in the UAE. Do you have a high school diploma? Because this is the minimum to be an employee in the UAE. Btw: our Philippina receptionist (salary AED 6K) studied Physiology to end up working as a receptionist in the UAE.
3 :
You gotta be really qualified. The more credit you have, the better.
4 :
Please ignore the myth that you need to be qualified to get a job in the UAE. This does not apply to Europeans. Carpenters in the west become architects here. Plumbers design waterfront properties and pool-watchers (lifeguards) become IT managers. Your chances of getting a job here is directly proportional to the amount of cleavage you are willing to show and inversely proportional to your qualifications.

spain or portugal and why

spain or portugal and why?
if you had the chance to get out of Britain to start a new life abroad and the two country's of choice were portugal (algarve) or the south of spain, which one would you choose bearing in mind you need to get work there and rent a villa long term. Or would you consider one of the small islands off the coast of spain like Lanzarote? I'm also a bit lazy when it comes to learning spanish so i will need to find english speaking people there for work ETC - Thanks

3 :
i would love to say portugal, but spain is better i lived in the south for a while and it was awesome
4 :
well i'd never be in britain in the first place but i'd move to portugal not plasticy and commercialised like spain and nicer people and really nice towns and cities but you would have to learn portuguese
5 :
I did move from Britain a few years ago. I now live in Spain. I visit Portugal as it isn't too far away, but even though Portugal is a beautiful country and the people are wonderful, I still prefer living in Spain. I live in a rural community in the mountains of Andalucia. Spain is much cheaper place to live than it is in Portugal. I guess it's a preference really and up to the individual. If you intend moving to either country, do yourself a favour and learn the language. The locals will appreciate you trying to learn their language. Finding work over here right now will be difficult if not impossible and in Spain long lets for villas aren't common due to the laws out here.

Chile beat Portugal :( Wtf!! Zequinha.. is an idiot

Chile beat Portugal :( Wtf!! Zequinha.. is an idiot...?
I can't believe it. Portugal really didn't deserve to win this one, I was confident our squad was good enough but in reality, Gama, Coentrao and Pele were the good ones... the rest, need a lot of work! Zequinha.. talented but that boy is an actor and he doesn't know how to control himself. He got himself a RED CARD at the 90th minute!! What an idiot! So that's it.. Portugal's out. Really sad. Now I'm rooting for Spain. Did anyone else see this? Opinions? 2 red cards for Portugal... Zequinha and Mano and one for Chile.. Vidal. Why it that there are always reds in our matches? How sad... I guess the Portuguese-speaking countries are out. Who are you rooting for in the U20? Austria, USA, Nigeria, Chile, Argentina, Czech, Spain, Mexico? oh Im actually rooting between Mexico, Spain & Argentina.. Argentina because I've been following them this entire time and I seriously think they're good but everyone likes them, so maybe Mexico. They have true talent. lol Zequinha is a bad ass.. full of attitude. Scolari won't be calling him up any time soon.. even with his talent. He wasnt afraid of shunning Quaresma.

2 :
I don't think the ref had any chose but to book both the Portugal players, I'm not sure about Vidals but why risk getting a card for time wasting when you already have a card. That was classic what Zequinha did, I mean if you are gonna go out of the tournament you mind as well do something crazy like that. Lol I've never seen a player take the card out of a refs hand, I guess there is a first time for everything. Go usa!!!!!!
3 :
Portugal played like crap and deserved to lose... I don't know what Zequinha was thinking when he did that... that was just dumb.. Congrats to Chile and I will be rooting for Spain...
4 :
I'm rooting for Nigeria. I hope the take it all. They were cheated in last tournments final against Argentina. Argentina was given bogus penalty(s). Nigeria deserves it this time but if they don't make it USA will be my team
5 :
yea i was watching that game to bad gama got injured anyways im rooting for mexico and we face argentina next wow is that gonna be a great game
6 :
Yeah, I saw the match, though it became so depressing to see Portugal lose like that that I didn't watch the entire match. I wonder how the match would have changed if Bruno Gama was there. But yes, I agree, it's quite absurd to see so many red cards out within a few minutes' time. It somewhat reminded me of Portugal vs. the Netherlands during last year's World Cup - 16 yellow cards given, 4 red cards, most of them around the final minutes of the match. I was supporting Spain from the start, and I'm glad that they made it to the quarter-finals and survived Brazil this year. Now that you mention Portuguese-speaking countries, I just noticed that four of the quarter-final teams come from Spanish-speaking countries.
7 :
Portugal didnt really play its best..but wat ZEQUINHA DID SHOULD GO DOWN IN HISTORY!! THE NOT ONLY IS THE KID A AWSOME PLAYER BUT HE HAS MORE GUTS THAN ANY PLAYER I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!! I CANT! BELIEVE! IT!! I bet Bruno is laughing his ass off to this instant! i guess he had a point...but still ive never seen such a thing!!!!

9 :
urgh! potugese r way better than chile! bad luck!
10 :
Chile have good talent...i never seen Portugal in the cup actually. never new they wereactully in it lol. the team we dont expect to bring up talent......are bringing up talent. remember Holland vs Portugal in world cup 2006.with all the red cards? that was bloody out of ordor with both teams. maybe Portugal need to sort something out. go Nigeria

Eat foods with a lot of fiber. You're off to a good start eating a lot of veggies and fruit. Also get a lot of while grains and legumes (beans).
3 :
There are many foods that are natural diuretics, but that only means they make you pee more, and perhaps lose a little excess water weight, but they don't do anything for actual weight loss. Your tea is a poor example. Your body is just saying, "I've had enough fluids for now. Thanks."
4 :
You do know that all edible foods make you go to the bathroom, it's just down to what type of meal your eating. They all vary in nutritional values so losing weight means eating less 'crap', effectively. Working out at the gym and eating lots of vegetables and fruits sounds excellent. Just don't be like me and say your going to do something and then don't end up doing it! Gosh, i wish i wasn't lazy... Anyway...Good luck!

What would happen if we did a global "do over" on the economy

What would happen if we did a global "do over" on the economy?
Greece is in a bad way, Portugal is right behind, and America is skating on thin ice... So, what if we just called a do over? Pick some point in the past and "re-set" everything to match that time and day? Would that work? Assuming we can get politicians and leaders to all agree on a time and day - which wouldn't happen, but try to think...

In ancient times there used to be "jubilees" every 50 years where all debts were forgiven. Seemed to work well.
2 :
how do you propose we do that? money is never created or destroyed. it just moves around. if you tell greece its ok you have a debt you dont have to pay it back. then someone/something is going to have to give up 13 billion euros. and they would get in trouble.
3 :
First, you would also need to re-set the population to that day, both in terms of the number of people, and the things they want to own. Second, resetting Greece is like giving an alcoholic a new kidney. It will make him healthier for a few years, but it will not stop him from ending up where he was before the reset.

What are some of the costs of illicit drug use in the United States today

What are some of the costs of illicit drug use in the United States today?
What are some of the costs of illicit drug use in the United States today? Which costs can be more easily reduced than others? How would you reduce the costs of illegal drug use? What are the implications of drug legalization? Has legalization of drugs, or non enforcement of drug laws, worked in European countries such as Holland and Portugal?
Law & Ethics - 2 Answers

1 :
One major cost of illicit drug use is that our prison populations are filled with about 80 percent drug offenders -- most non-violent. Drug abuse (like any other abuse) should be treated as a medical problem, not a criminal problem. Evidently we learned absolutely NOTHING from Prohibition....
2 :
Illicit drug use got Ron Wilson Reagan elected because he purchased votes with promises of free dope. Then he ran up the budget from less than 1 trillion in debt to well over 2, and as all other President's since then seem to be following his formula of corruption we might as well figure as the deficit is over 13 trillion at least 12 trillion was graft. So, that equates to more than all of us will ever see in our lifetimes. At one point I read a study that said 1 trillion would pay for all "entitlements" programs for ever. Or, we are giving away free food and lodging for the poor, in exchange for dope for the morons. We are giving away free solar power, in exchange for dope for the morons. And we are fighting two wars in exchange for dope for the morons. And we are refusing to develop a new fighting weapon to counter the newest Russian rifle that can shoot through body armor at distance every time ~ and hoping that our "slippery bullets" will "be enough", in exchange for dope for morons. AND we are not building as many 2nd generation stealth fighters as we will need when the Chinese get going on their copy of the new Russian design now in full production, in exchange ~ for dope for MORONS ~ who'd rather be lined up and shot, than sober.

Portugal was sailing all around the Atlantic since at least the 1420's... They knew it was a very big stretch to sail west to reach the Orient (and possibly they knew there was a huge land mass in the way, although without any gold or spices). And, of course, in 1488 Bartolomeu Dias discovered it was possible to sail around Africa to reach India and China, the precious Sea Route to the East was open and was 100% portuguese, there wasn't much need in finding out another route towards the west. But Columbus did sail for Portugal, from 1476 to 1485, he lived there, in the island of Porto Santo and married the daughter of one of Portugal's early explorers, Perestrello. And found out everything there was to know about sailing, charting and exploring in those years.

If they can stop being so afraid of change maybe the us will get somewhere new but naw they wont do that you know it. Us is to egocentric only worrying about being ontop
2 :
For any life-threatening condition Canadians with MONEY always flee Canada. That is of course WHY all Democrats demand their system be copied. As an example, had I been in Canada 31 August 2006 there is a 100% chance I would not have seen September 1st. I got the "only hope" procedure (by the way, no one asked about insurance/ability to pay until after) that's STILL ILLEGAL in Canada - for COST-effectiveness reasons. Even if I had cash pouring out of my pockets it CANNOT be done there. It's a CRIME to do it. Tell me. Why do you hate your children so much you want that system for them?
3 :
Because Americans value different things than citizens of other countries. They inherently do not trust their government and value personal and group freedoms. Their constitutions, laws, and republic is specifically designed to limit government powers, keep certain powers at the local (i.e. state) level, and to allow individuals and the free market to run things. In many areas that has worked extremely well for them. Now... you can argue that the Canadian health care is better, but if you look at exactly how the Canadian system works, you quickly realize that the American people simply aren't willing to give the government the kinds of powers it would need to implement such a system nor are they willing to give up certain basic 'freedoms' necessary to implement a system like that. Complete state take over of all hospitals. Complete state take over of all medical insurance. Direct state control of education systems -- forcing local school boards to accept PE, health, sex education, etc. standards. Limiting of medical lawsuits. State government control over medical schools. Federal laws on drug patents. State planning of all hospitals, medical equipment purchases, etc. State and federal control over which procedures are covered. Removal of employer health plans to be replaced by federal income tax hikes. Federal distribution of funds to states with penalties for those not meeting federal government standards. etc., etc. These aren't small changes. You'd need massive constitutional changes, government buy out hospitals, hundreds of law changes in each of the states, entire industries put out of business, etc. Ignoring personal interests of various groups (doctors, lawyers, wealthy, etc.) who won't benefit on this, the massive turn-over time and costs of trying to switch to such a system, legal challenges, etc. most Americans simply aren't willing to try such an exercises. And of course, without such wholesale changes it is highly unlikely that you would see any of the benefits of a single-payer health care system.
4 :
The US won't adapt, because it would be financially disastrous. Right now, health care reform would be too costly.

If Italian sailors like Emmanual Pessagno and Lanzarote Malocello were accepted by the Portuguese and eventually worked for the kings of Portugal then why was Christopher Columbus dismissed by Portugal ?.

How come the US wont ADAPT and ADOPT successful strategies from OTHER countries

How come the US wont ADAPT and ADOPT successful strategies from OTHER countries?
Health care in Canada, drug reforms in Portugal etc...How come the US wont just take some other contries ideas and tweek them to make it work OUR citizens? I know the variables (difference of economy, natural resourses etc) But are we too dumb to COPY a little??? I thought this was a MELTING POT built on the foundation of DIFFERENT PEOPLE???

Conservatives. And the us has its head way up its ass to do that they are to "proud" its like the homeless guy who thinks hes an aristocrat.

Is Portuguese a good language to learn with an International Relations major

Is Portuguese a good language to learn with an International Relations major?
should i learn Portuguese from Brazil or from Portugal. i already know english and spanish. my spanish may need some improving but i can have conversations so i think i'll be okay. but is learning Portuguese demanding enough for me if i want to work with the Untied Nations or something related to that in some way.

Actually, the truth is, no, it isn't. It's good that you're doing your research, but know that as far as what languages to know for working with the United Nations or something related to that, and getting closer to the front of the line to more likely being hired, means knowing whats most useful. That all boils down to what is most widely used, so for that line of work, listed in order of priority, go with either Mandarin Chinese, German, French, Arabic, Japanese, Portuguese or Russian. Whatever you decide, if you're not going to be taking it in School, be careful of what learning method you use. Linguists, and people with vast experience in learning languages will almost always agree on the fact that most language learning methods out there are 50-70 percent fluff! It's pretty easy to get away with telling you that you'll be able to speak a language when for example, someone says "hello", they're speaking English, and it doesn't mean they can actually communicate. Being semi-fluent means you have a functional comprehension of at least 65% in the conventional range of that language, while fluent would be anything greater than 80%. If you don't have the time to learn a language properly, and you're after something quick and easy, then you're probably headed towards disappointment. The best method to getting as far as you can get in the shortest period of time is called the “3 step”. The first step is to complete a FULL Pimsleur (MUST BE PIMSLEUR) course. Listen to each lesson at least 2 times, taking notes the first time with new vocabulary and studying before listening the second time. The 2nd step is to form a list of the 3,000 most commonly used words/vocabulary in English, to also include the eight parts of speech (verbs, nouns, pronouns, adverbs, adjectives, prepositions, conjunctions, and interjections), which you can search the web for. Once you've formed the list, you need to find accurate generic-translations, which you can apply to most common case scenarios of that language(definatley the most challenging part of all this).Once that's done, make flash cards or whichever method works best for you in memorizing vocabulary, but try to include each word in a sentence, in addition to just the new word and it's meaning. After you've memorized all that, the 3rd step is to locate 4 movies that are preferably some kind of Disney movie, or anything of a slower pace. Childrens movies seem to work best for this. Watch the movie in the language you're trying to learn with good, quality English subtitles. Watch ONLY these same 4 movies continuously as much as possible, to the point where you know what's going to be said next. Try to plan completing each step in this order, exactly as described within a time-frame of about 8-10 months. When you're done, you should be somewhere in the range of “semi-fluency”, at the point where learning after the “3 step” is quick and easy, and being close to fluent after 2 years of using it everyday, and learning at least an additional 100 new vocabulary words a month during that time. You'll thank me when you're done!
2 :
Yes, I think it's good. Brazilian Portuguese would be the best for you if you want to do some kind of work related to the UN, or work for an NGO, or with development issues. Brazil's economy and its influence will continue to grow in the coming years. And there simply aren't many people learning Portuguese as a second language. Only knowing Spanish is OK, but Spanish+Portuguese will open a lot more doors for you. It's also the easiest language for you to learn if you've already studied Spanish because both languages are so similar. (Oh, and don't forget, Portuguese is also spoken in countries in Africa: Angola and Mozambique, for example.)
3 :
Portuguese may be beneficial to learn, because it is more scarce in the international relations business. Everyone knows Spanish and French. I speak European Portuguese, but Brazilian is more widely spoken and would be more useful.

What is the difference between socialism and communism

What is the difference between socialism and communism?
With the recent comments likening Obama's tax plan with socialism, I've been reading some crazy posts from people fearfully equating socialism with communism. Now, I know that North Korea, Vietnam, Nepal, Cuba, and (perhaps) China are examples of communism at work. And it is my understanding that much of Western Europe and all of Scandinavia operates under socialist principles. What means this word "socialism"? Could someone please explain the differences between socialism and communism? How is the socialism of the United Kingdom or India or Portugal or Sweden different from the national socialism of Czechoslovakia or the USSR or the GDR? And, if you're feeling extra articulate, how would our government need to change in order to be socialist too? I'm not really satisfied with these answers. They just raise new questions. How is the economic system distinct from the political system? Didn't Nepal elect the communists to parliament? Weren't the national socialists of Germany anti-communist -- and weren't they too elected to parliament? So socialists tax everything (including my TV) in order to provide social services like healthcare, education, child support, and social security to everyone -- regardless of income -- for a permanent welfare state.. with private businesses. Communists are extreme socialists who retain power through military force, own or have their hand in all the companies, and who also provide the aforementioned social benefits, but just not as well. ... And capitalists take tax money to secure their stake in foreign resources, provide limited social benefits expecting people to take care of themselves, and prop up giant failing corporations like mega-banks and car manufacturers. Please clarify.

6 :
exactly CHANGE that will do it CHANGE good luck smile
7 :
Well Commies are a bunch of control freaks who keep power by Military means.. They rule with force.. Socialists Govern through self beliefs, they have a narrow single minded vision of what there country should be like..One is as bad as the other..
8 :
Socialism gives people some freedom but communism completely controls you. Socialism is the stage between Capitalism and Communism, and Communism is the point where the state "withers away."
9 :
A common mistake is to confuse Socialism, the economic system, with Communism, the political system. Communists are "socialist" in the same way that others are "compassionate conservatives". That is, they give lip service to ideals they have no intention of practicing. Communism, or "scientific socialism", has very little to do with Marx. Communism was originally envisioned by Marx and Engels as the last stages of their socialist revolution. "The meaning of the word communism shifted after 1917, when Vladimir Lenin and his Bolshevik Party seized power in Russia. The Bolsheviks changed their name to the Communist Party and installed a repressive, single-party regime devoted to the implementation of socialist policies."
10 :
Socialism is being forced to live for society, Communism is being forced to live for the state (government).
11 :
Both mean that you work so that someone else will reap the benefits of those labors. I believe communism is the extreme of socialism in the way that the government will own everything and your rights are stripped away to the fullest. Notice that Americans rights are gradually being stripped away one law, Act and or directive at a time. Its has never been so apparent as we have seen in this last administration. Unfortunately, Bush cannot be totally blamed for our rights being taken away -- we are just able to recognize those acts due to the availability of the internet.
12 :
Dearest Ingird, I will try, Socialism is an economic system. Basically the government decides what you need and how much. The money is provided through many sources. Taxes, tariffs, inflation, are possibilities. Hitler was known as the "little paper hanger" for printing out German marks to spend them on war material. It got his country going again. In England everything belongs to the government (The King or Queen). The citizen pays "rent" for what they have. Even the use of the tee-vee has a small tax. If you are using your tee-vee with out a tax stamp, you face a hefty fine. The tee-vee police come around and check out the neighborhood with electronic equipment to bee sure you are not using the box without paying the tax. England is a Kingdom. The Nazis were a dictatorship. Communism is a government system, a kingdom is a government system, a dictatorship, Democracy, Republic, or feudal state are all systems of government. Any of these may be a socialism, or maybe mot. Communism defines itself as a socialism, and in Europe operates that way. China is Communist, but is also operating as a free enterprise system. They make and sell things for a prophet. Kind of a "blended" system. The United States is a free enterprise system but has initiated many socialistic elements over the years. With many of our large businesses going "offshore" in recent years our system is breaking down. Many people want the government to take care of them (welfare state). Our nation is a Republic, government is through Representatives, These Representatives are elected by a Democratic vote. This makes the United States unique in history. To make our system into a socialism, would be simple. Our government, through Congress would initiate programs so that everyone is given everything that they need. Then fund it by taking away extra from those who have extra. No mater how hard you work, you get about the same. Those who don't work get about the same. Special skills for special jobs? Why bother. A partial socialism at state level may work, but on a national level it would be DISASTER!!!
13 :
The socialism of Sweden is completely different from the communism of the old USSR. Socialism allows businesses to exist, while in Communism it is state-controlled. Last time I checked, IKEA is not a branch of the Swedish Government. On a side note, most "communist" governments have very dictatorish elements to them. Kim Jong-Il and Fidel Castro have been "alive" for an incredibly long time.
14 :
What a load of hooey this lot have written! Why don't you go and see what socialists have to say for themselves about socialism and communism? Is it because you might agree with them? http://socialistparty.org.uk/FAQFrame.htm
15 :
Socialism is as you are seeing the State mandated control of certain infrastructure and services outside of the basic needs provided by Government. Public Education is actually a form of socialism. It is hinged on empowering workers against their employers and creating a "level playing field" (you'll see that term all over Obama's website unless he scrubbed it it was everywhere on there) Socialism is basically the precursor to communism at which point ( and we've seen it through out history over and over and over) an economic system fails under the socialized government and the Government steps in and buys up the free market thereby creating a socialized economy at which point it becoms communism.
16 :
For many supporters of socialism, "socialism" means that the workers control the means of production, while "capitalism" means another class controls the means of production. Historically, supporters of socialism have varied from opponents of the state (like Proudhon or Bakunin) to supporters of it (like Engels), as well as from supporters of completely free markets (like Proudhon or Tucker) to supporters of planned economies (like Marx) to supporters of free access to common means of production (like Kropotkin). Indeed, many socialists (e.g. most anarchists) regard markets where people own their own means of production (or have reasonable chances to do so) as forms of socialism, and states where the state owns the means of production (as in the Soviet Union) as capitalism, with the ruling party as the capitalists. For most socialists, communism (small-c) refers to those forms of socialism which do away with money and paired exchange in favor of free access to goods and unpaired exchange. Marxists expect to create communism during the "withering away of the state." Anarchocommunists propose to create voluntary communism (alongside voluntary collectivism, voluntary mutualism, etc.). Errico Malatesta wrote, in defense of anarchocommunism: "[I]nstead of running the risk of making a confusion in trying to distinguish what you and I each do, let us all work and put everything in common. In this way each will give to society all that his strength permits until enough is produced for every one; and each will take all that he needs, limiting his needs only in those things of which there is not yet plenty for every one." http://dwardmac.pitzer.edu/Anarchist_Archives/malatesta/MalatestaATAC.html

Hello all. Can someone please give me links to the best employment websites in Portugal. I would prefer a site that covers all but if the best sites are based on region or industry, I am looking to move to Porto and work in the Science field. I will probably be moving through work, but I just want to know what else is out there. I have found many English sites for jobs in Portugal but I really want local sites with a full range. I would prefer a com.pt site in Portuguese. Cheers

Greece, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Iceland, etc. Is America immune to the types of problems that these countries just experienced in the last year. Judging by the actions of it's politicians and it's people you would think that they at least think they are. Do economic laws work differently on the American continent?

How can I work in Japan

How can I work in Japan?
Hi. I'm Carolina, in my last High School year (starting this september), next year I'll go to college, I'll graduate in Mandarin (major) and japanese (minor). My masters degree will be spent in China for one year and its second year, here, in Portugal. I wanted to know hot I can work in Japan, earning a good amount of money preferably, since China offers more opportunities, and it's also an option, but Japan is first. This is just out of curiosity, since I'm not even in university yet, and don't if I'll enter. I'll do my best though, so I think I will. Thanks. Thank you everyone. Yes, I'll do my major, still don't know for sure if I'll do it in China or Japan, Iwanted Japan, but it's still too early to decide that. My course lasts 5 years, being the last two the masters degree. Finantial intitutions? I'm not good at maths, that's why I went to lingustics =_= But how come? Can I work in that area somehow? I'll do my best to speak japanese and mandarin as native, I'll go to university only in the next year (hopefuly) and I've bought a lot of japanese studying material. I bought last week 2 books, 1 for kanji, and the other for the grammar as think, they are called "Japanese with ease" 1 & 2, the versions without CD's. And while I'm in University, or even vacations, if the timeble doen't suit me, I'll try to do a mini-course if I find, like "administration" or something like that. And sorry but I can't answer to my own questions? I think I'm editing my question right now, I'm still a newbie in this yahoo thingy.

You have to find a job before you come to Japan and need to take working visa. English teacher is the job you are most likely to find. Other jobs are difficult for non-Japanese.
2 :
Go China. Japan has not profitable job for you by your degree and experience. English teacher is poor job in Japan.
3 :
Teaching English is about the only job available. And it's not a high paying job. You need a four year degree to work in Japan. A work visa, and a job offer before you get there. You think China has more opportunities? Think again. There is no freedom of press. The internet is censored, ect, ect...
4 :
I would recommend you seriously think about your major. if you want to find a good paying job (anywhere in the world) you should consider getting a degree that is in demand. if you can get your japanese up to native level, you can work as a translator. the money is good, much better than teaching english. as well if your grads are very good consider applying to financial institutions like goldman sachs etc. they hire overseas for japa and you don't necessarily need to be a business major.

If you're a US citizen, you can't just show up in Europe and stay for longer than 3 months. It is illegal to work here without the proper work visa or student visa. Please be aware that you will have to file taxes both here and in the US if you retain your US citizenship. In general in Europe, and in particular here in Italy, you have to have a job lined up in order to get a work visa before you move here from the US. You can only stay for 90 days without some type of visa (work, student, ...). You cannot apply for the visa while you're here and you'll need the proper paperwork from the company. However, you could come over as a tourist for up to 90 days without a visa and look for work. Then you'd have to go back to the US and wait for the paperwork for a visa to be processed. Coming from the US, you'll also have to have skills that can't easily be duplicated here. That will mean a degree in a marketable field. It is much easier if you are an EU citizen; then you have the right to move and work within the EU.
