Are there any Jobs in Portugal?????? plz help!!?
Are there any good permanent jobs for english speakers in Portugal? I have only an arts degree, but I need to live there. I'm currently in the U.K. It's in the E.U. so I can work there but can't speak Portuguese. Any help? How can I get a job there? And, Where would I find the listings for the jobs I'm qualified for?

No-one savours the notion of searching for a job, and the majority of us need all the help we can get. After being jobless for the last month I scored a fantastic job after reading the resource in the box below and using their methods for a few weeks. give it a try, it certainly helped me.

Is the U.S. govt. A) stupid B) ignorant with regards to prohibition history or C) in love w/ police state

Is the U.S. govt. A) stupid B) ignorant with regards to prohibition history or C) in love w/ police state?
The stupidity in these comments from the Obama administration is ASTOUNDING. They ADMIT the reason there is so much violence in Mexico is because the U.S. and Mexican govt.'s are LITERALLY having a "war" with the drug cartels. The drug cartels however have an EXTREMELY profitable drug market in the U.S. (criminalization of drugs significantly ups the profit margin for heroin, cocaine, marijuana etc.) and THEY WILL protect it. So why are we punishing the addicts and the suppliers when the POLICY is the reason why A) the drugs are extremely profitable and B) there is incentive for cartels to get heavily armed to protect these profits?? Wouldn't it make WAY more sense to DECRIMINALIZE hard drugs (cocaine, heroin, crack, meth etc.) similar to Portugal's program?? (hard drug rates dropped across the board, enrollment in treatment doubled) Then LEGALIZE marijuana and regulate it just like alcohol??? http://www.cnn.com/2010/POLITICS/05/18/us.mexico.presidential.visit/index.html The Obama administration said one reason for the rise in violence is the pressure both governments are putting on drug cartels. "The pressure that the Calderon administration has placed on the DTOs [drug trafficking organizations] has certainly generated a great deal of violence as those organizations fight for more restricted access to the United States in terms of the drug market," said a senior administration official who briefed reporters Wednesday on the condition of not being identified. "But putting pressure on the DTOs is an important part of a multipronged strategy to create a lasting dismantlement of these organizations that generate crime and violence in Mexico and have deleterious effects in the United States as well." Portugal's decriminalization program appears to be working. (Hard drug user rates dropped across the board) Drugs in Portugal: Did Decriminalization Work? http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,1893946,00.html In contrast the U.S. War on Drugs is FAILING IN EVERY RESPECT: AP IMPACT: US drug war has met none of its goals http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100513/ap_on_re_us/failed_drug_war Decriminalization makes these drugs MORE PROFITABLE. (for cartels since they're illegal..........why not treat hard drug use as a public health problem instead of a criminal problem??) Plummeting Marijuana Prices Create A Panic In Calif. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=126806429&ft=1&f=2&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+NprProgramsATC+%28NPR+Programs:+All+Things+Considered%29 President Obama and Mexican President Felipe Calderon are meeting at the White House this week to discuss throwing even more money away into a failed drug war................wonderful. mikegolf.........."Actually the people to blame are the drug users who are buying the stuff - knowing that the money will be used to fund violence and murder." So you're going to blame addicts?? lol That's ridiculous considering we hardly even try to treat them.

For the most part it's a mixture of A and B. I think they partially like a police state when the police are enforcing something that they personally are against as well, but once they do something that will harm conservatives that would end quickly.
2 :
you forgot D) all of the above which btw is the correct answer
3 :
Obama's trying to save face with the political center... the last thing he needs right now is a Republican attack ad on "he's soft on drugs and hates your children" the elections are coming up... if the conservatives didn't care, he would do it tomorrow, but there are political realities he has to deal with... Reagan had a "drug scare" and that still rings true with many older people... if it's factual or not... you could have the best idea in the world, but if the population of a democratic nation doesn't want it, you can't do it...

What would you do if you see your country going down the hole in an irreversible way

What would you do if you see your country going down the hole in an irreversible way?
Portugal. I do work i pay my takes i work extra time without being paid (and honestly i really don't care anymore, i love what i do). I worked for free for a long time as so many people i know who did the same. Most people i know are in the same situation. Why do they keep trying to fool us saying that Portugal is drowning down the hole because we do not work enough when they spend a thousand million of euros building stuff we REALLY DO NOT NEED? Spec - USA would be a great choice but actually i'm thinking of smaller steps, i would like to go to Barcelona (Spain) because i know the place and i think i would feel like i'm home there. Still i'm just starting to raise in my career and so i need time to get money to move out. I have a friend who's living on UK and he tells me that job reality is completely different from here - if you work, you get paid. Just to give you a picture about how government stuff works here: Portugal is one of the european countries that has more deputy members. Each of them earns around 6000 euros per month (plus other extras). They said they would cut off 5% of their income and one of them started to complain he wouldn't have money to eat o.O... Lots of families here live with 500 euros per month.... So, hence the category. Thanks for the advice. Cristina - Sim!!! essa história dos ciganos bem que podiam fazer como em França... Enfim, querem lá saber. desde que ganhem o deles...

First it's called taxes. Second working without getting paid is called "volunteering" i get why you've chosen this category. but my friend you need to see out of your town or community. a lot of people are not educated and can't work. every country in the world will have smart working people who wants nothing but the best for their country, but still there is a lot of bad selfish people who doesn't care about their country going down. and i'm guessing it's not a minority

Wrong category

Why not come to America? It may not be perfect, but at least you will get paid properly for the work you do.

Not quite following you here, but it seems to me that if you followed a job to the USA, and no longer have said job, why stay?

Unless you have a visa that allows you to work and is not tied to the job you lost (H1-Bs are held by the EMPLOYER, not the employee), you will not be able to claim any form of unemployment insurance or other aid. Without your own work visa or some other visa you will not be able to remain legally. Unemployment insurance is administered by the individual states, but requires that you be immediately (and legally) available to work. Technically, if you have an H1-B, you are supposed to leave the country immediately upon the conclusion of the job.
