Let's say that a US citizen marries a Portuguese citizen

Let's say that a US citizen marries a Portuguese citizen...?
...I understand, according to the article below, that the US citizen in my example can work in Portugal without requiring a work permit: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/317505/work_permits_in_portugal_an_introduction.html?cat=17 Now suppose that, shortly after marriage, the couple wants to relocate to Spain, what would the US citizen need to legally live and work long-term in Spain? Thank you.

A person married to a Portuguese citizen for at least three years may be able to acquire Portuguese citizenship by declaration. No formal residence period in Portugal is laid down; however, in practice, knowledge of the Portuguese language and integration into Portuguese society may be required. No you have to wait till you got Portuguese citizenship before you could live and work in Spain. You wife doesn't need a visa to work or live in Spain but you do since your not an EU citizen. You would need an offer of a job before you could work in Spain. He/She would have to prove that they couldn't get anyone from the 27 EU other countries to do the job before they employ you. It would have to be advertise in all 27 EU countries.
