try the algarve, I know there's a lot of british, I don't know about Irish. Good luck

Try Coimbra, i know theres an irish bar there! and its quite cheap compared to the Algarve, also a bit quieter. Has a good nightlife. Rent/Hostels/Pensions can be found super cheap if your willing to lower standards... and the nearest beach, is half an hour away on the train. have fun :)

hi, There are some half dozen Irish bars here in Lisbon, mainly near the river zone. They are very nice places to work (have 2 friends already work there) and usually foreigners work there. I think the owners are british or irish... still check this: http://www.hennessys.com.pt/ http://www.irishpub.com.pt/ http://www.lisbon-guide.info/night/bars-discotheques http://www.golisbon.com/night-life/bars.html I hope to see you in a Lisbon irish pub some day! good luck! Boa viagem!

I've lived and worked in Lagos in the Algarve over 2 summers. It was amazing! Very friendly people, albeit mostly tourists but the atmosphere was unbeatable. The beaches are lovely as well with lots of bars and pubs. Defo an Irish bar - the Irish Rover!

D+C does that C means chengan? why don't you ask in the same place you got the visa.
2 :
Your Italian visa can't help you I think, but your Italian language will ;) It was easy to make papers in Portugal in 2009, even with exceeded visas, check this out, Portuguese Immigration service site: http://www.sef.pt/portal/V10/EN/aspx/page.aspx Good Luck!

I´m marrying an american, and we want to live in the usa.Do I have to go back to my coutry for my paper works?
If I marry my american fiance in the States, do I have to come back to Portugal to get my paper works done or can I do all the legal stuff over there?

no you don't.as long you come to the us with the fiance visa you will be able to take care of the visa from here!
2 :
No, about going back to your country. You have to go to the American Embassy (or Consulate) in the country where you got married. Then you can wait in the States until approved. Be sure to look over the requirements. The American will have to show proof of income from their last 3 income tax returns was greater than the poverty level. There are important deadlines on the paperwork. Should you miss one, you have to start all over. I would recommend an attorney specialized in immigration issues to make this a sure thing.

get your legal work done before you get here. It seems like you would have a much easier transition. i mean there is rigourous and their is rigourous paperwork here, i don't knnow about Portugal, but that paperwork stuff ain't no joke. it'll break you if you're not careful. maybe it's just me...and it Has to be done, by law. one way or the other. so get it done..

You can't enter America to marry your fiance without the proper visa. If you do that and try to stay you have to be able to prove you didn't plan the marriage. that's next to impossible and is getting harder all the time. If you are home now, apply for a fiance visa K-1, that is the fastest way, then you can travel here to the USA and get married. If you get married first then you apply for a K-3 spousal visa from your own country. If you are living in the USA now with another type of visa you may be able to marry and stay but don't take the risk if you are just here as a visitor. i found this on a website hope this helps Portugal has agreements with 40 other countries whereby non-Portuguese citizens can remain on their home country social security scheme for a limited period depending on the nature of benefits and country involved. Check before departure. There are many forms of unemployment benefit in Portugal and what a person may be entitled to depends how long the employee has been working in Portugal and whether they have been working in the public or private sector, part time or full time. Generally if the person is self employed or has their own business and the business fails they are not entitled to unemployment benefit even though they have made national insurance contributions. There is no Income Support system in Portugal, although there is incapacity and invalidity benefit for the sick, infirm and disabled. In order to get ordinary unemployment benefit (Subsiodio de Disemprego) a person must have worked at least a year or made voluntary contributions for two years. An applicant may apply for reduced benefits (Subsídio de Desemprego Parcial) if they have worked for 78 days out of the past 12 months (including public holidays) of if they have made voluntary contributions for two years. This benefit is calculated at 30 percent of average net earnings over the previous three months. Unemployed benefit for full time employees made redundant is calculated at around 80 percent of average net earnings over the previous three months prior to unemployment. Apart from unemployment benefit (Subsídio de Desemprego) there is also Social Subsidy Benefit (Subsídio Social de Desemprego) and Partial Unemployment Benefit (Subsídio de Desemprego Parcial). The second two are to compensate the employee for lack of remuneration or reduction by agreement from a full time to a part time job. For comprehensive information in English from the Portuguese Social Security website: Click here EU Citizens in Portugal An unemployed EU citizen who has been receiving unemployment benefit for more than four weeks can have the same rate of unemployment benefit paid in Portugal for three months while looking for work. People who have paid contributions in another EU state for two years before coming to Portugal are eligible to receive benefits for a capped period. To benefit from this a person should have Form 303 from the social security services in their home country. This form must then be taken to the nearest Employment Ministry (Ministério de Emprego) and Social Security Office

Portugal has contracts with many countries in Europe, which ensure health coverage except for the 6 euro fee everytime you visit the hospital. I know you do get something if you become unemployed, it's given by the employer, but there isn't really anything that you can get from the government that can help you, unfortunately. Only those of "gypsy" decent get a certain amount a month.

hi i have lived in portugal for 5 years im originally from england to qualify for unemployment benefit you have to have worked for the same employer for at least 6 months on contract. if you do work on contract you will receive a social security number and that you can use every time you go to hospital or pharmacy i was in hospital this year for 3 days and for everything it cost me 17euros but every time you go to the healthcentre you pay 3euros for an appoinment. hope this helps. also if you fall ill you have to be on contract to recieve sick pay.
