ok i know it dose sound like home work well it is but in this class wer not aloud to have our books out side the class room so he told us to go on line and i cant find them..... help???

It was primarily a power thing. Having many colonies gave prestige to countries because it added wealth and resources. They sought other markets to sell their products to and trade with. There was also a race to develop the technology necessary to gain territory (such as advanced sailing technology to travel farther distances).
