Would i have to leave my dog in portugal for 6 months if i go away for 2 weeks? pet passport? uk rules?
Hi, i dont really understand how the whole taking pets abroard works. I have a 7 month old jack russel and although im not going away this year i want to go next year but i dont want to loose him for 6 months for a 2 week holiday, can someone explain to me how taking your dog in and out of the contry works, im form the uk too, thank you.

You would get the most definite and finalized answer if you talked to your customs and travel people.

if u r only staying 4 2 weeks just leave your animals with family or friends. I'm 90% sure that your dog will need to stay i the U.K. for 6 months and im not sure but i think that after spending time in the U.K. they will need to stay with animal control for a while. just leave your dogs. It will be a more enjoyable holiday for the both of you

You should be easily able to travel within the EU as long as you have a pet passport. You are good to start to organise it now because I understand you need to start planning at least 6 months in advance.
